Home again.

Yesterday I came home from CO. Thank you so much to everyone that prayed for us! I really appreciated it.

It was such an awesome trip! It definitely wasn’t all easy or fun but it was all good. I think we hiked over fifty miles in all.

I don’t feel like posting very much right now, maybe I’ll post some pictures later. We shall see.

HIKE

Posted: June 5, 2008 in Uncategorized

It has been almost a month since my last update. This is not so good.

I’m going on a week-long hike with Winston Miller in the Rocky Mountains of colorful Colorado, starting this Monday. This is very good!

HIKE stands for “Helping Individuals Know Excellence”. It’s a leadership training, character-building, backpacking trip for a group of about 12 young guys who want to grow spiritually, as well as physically. Arlynn Miller, from Canon City, Co, is the guy that is organizing this trip, along with Steve Stutzman, from IA.

Steve Stutzman is bringing a group of guys out to KS Sunday night. Then on Monday, Winston and I will be traveling on out to CO with them.

I’m getting very stoked about the whole situation! I would really appreciate it if you guys would pray for us on the trip. Pray for safety, good health, and that the whole group of guys would grow closer to Jesus.

Here is something else that is very exiting: I’m turning sixteen on Friday!!!!!!!! Yes, I know, I can hardly believe it myself. But life happens, and we can’t do a thing about it. Doesn’t it amaze you how every day just kinda slips through your fingers like sand, and then it’s gone forever? It sure amazes me. I mean, it seems like not too long ago that I could hardly wait to turn fourteen, and now I’m sixteen already. Wow.

Have a peaceful weekend, everybody!

‘Till next time,

Drew

Double Whammy!

On Mon. morning, Grant and Winston Came over to my place. After only about fifteen minutes of calling and waiting, Grant and I each shot a turkey! Winston filmed the hunt, and got some sweet footage.

For a detailed play-by-play, go to Grant’s blog.

This was my first season of spring turkey hunting, and it was very successful!

Turkey Hunting!

Today I shot a turkey!

This morning Clinton and Winston Miller and I arose out of our warm beds at about 4:15. Insane, I know, but sometimes you just have to do it and not think about how utterly stupid it is. At 4:40 we were eating breakfast, and we were on the road by 5:00, headed to our spot.

We found some turkeys at about 6:00. Although they gobbled back at our calls, they didn’t come to us. So, we decided to put on the sneak. Finally, at about 6:40, we got within range and I was able to get my shot off. At 36 yards, Winston’s Remington 870 Express Magnum loaded with Federal 3in., two-ounce #4 shot did the trick!

Here are some pictures from the awesome morning.

The tom was about two years old, but his beard was only a little stub. It looked like somebody just snipped it off.

He had one-inch spurs, limb hangers!

It was an awesome day! Thank you, Winston and Clinton for taking me on this hunt!
